How TeamKids embeds child safety into every layer of care
At TeamKids, child safety is more than a compliance requirement, it’s a deeply held value that informs everything we do. From the way our services are designed to the way our teams are trained, it’s all about one goal: creating environments where children feel safe, respected, and empowered.
More Than Protection – It’s Empowerment
We believe safety goes beyond protecting children from harm. It’s about helping children understand their rights, their personal boundaries, and how to speak up with confidence. It’s also about ensuring every child feels seen and valued for who they are, culturally, emotionally, and socially.
Recruitment, Training, Tools, and Trusted Relationships
Every TeamKids Educator is screened through our recruitment process by our expert recruiters, we take the time to get to know each candidate as they go through our screening process, reference and social checks. Every Educator undergoes our induction, child protection training, including the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme. But it doesn’t stop there. Regional Managers and Service Mentors regularly visit services to model best practices, check in with teams, and offer ongoing support. We provide practical tools, like risk assessments and environment audits, to help staff spot and manage risks in real-time.
If an Educator needs more support, we offer tailored coaching and additional training to ensure they feel confident and capable in their role.
Responding with Care and Clarity
If a concern is ever raised by a child, parent, staff member, or school, we act quickly and thoughtfully. Every concern is followed up with open communication and a clear action plan. We also notify relevant authorities when required, ensuring we meet our obligations. As the Child Safeguarding Manager, I review all concerns with our People and Culture Team and relevant Operations Managers.
Giving Children a Voice
We build strong, trusting relationships that empower children to speak up. Through daily conversations, group discussions, and child-friendly materials, we help children understand how to recognise unsafe situations and who they can turn to. Our Educators are trained to be approachable, responsive, and trustworthy, so every child knows they are heard.
Partnering with Schools to Uphold Safety
For our partner schools, this means they can rely on TeamKids to uphold a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, a strong focus on compliance, and a team that genuinely cares. Our commitment is not just to meet the standards, but to exceed them, creating services where children don’t just need to be, but want to be.
We’re proud of the safe, inclusive communities we build – and we’re always open to conversation. If you’d like to learn more about our approach or discuss child safety practices at your school, we’re always here to talk.
Warm regards,
Sarah Barber
