WHAT’S SUP?

TeamKids partners with The Stand-Up Project (SUP) to reduce discrimination, harassment and bullying in schools.

We are honoured to announce our partnership with Dr. Zach Greig and The Stand-Up Project (SUP). Dr. Greig brings over two decades of experience as both an academic and practitioner in community empowerment, focusing on combating bullying and promoting active bystander intervention.

Making a stand against bullying

Dr. Greig’s journey to founding The Stand-Up Project was inspired by his tenure at a Melbourne secondary school, where he witnessed firsthand the need for comprehensive anti-bullying initiatives tailored to the complexities of modern school environments. In response to his students’ concerns and a lack of suitable programs, Dr. Greig embarked on a mission to develop a solution that truly empowered young people to take ownership of their community’s wellbeing.

Drawing upon a wealth of academic research and practical experience, SUP not only equips students with age-appropriate strategies to address poor behaviour but also instils in them a sense of pride and responsibility for creating a positive legacy within their school communities.

Dr. Greig strongly believes that community change originates come from below, emphasising the pivotal role students play in creating inclusive and safe environments. Recognising the complexity of social dynamics contributing to poor behaviour, he acknowledges the challenge adults face in understanding and addressing these issues effectively, and alone. SUP is a program that celebrates the remarkable potential of young people and underscores the notion that everyone, regardless of age, can contribute to fostering positive change.

Dr. Greig’s dedication and the transformative impact of The Stand-Up Project are evident in the lives of young people across Australia. His unwavering commitment to empowering youth and fostering inclusive school environments resonates deeply with TeamKids, and we are honoured to have him as a valued member of our team.
